Getting a Card

Tom Green County Library cards are free and available to all Texas residents. A government-issued photo ID and proof of current residency are required. Cards expire every two years. Please notify library staff of any changes regarding personal information. Replacement cards are $3. To review the full library card policy, please click here.

To obtain a library card:

Adults may visit any library location with required documentation. The online application begins the process and will grant limited access and privileges. Individuals must come to the library to complete the application process.


Applicants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian with proper identification and proof of address. Parent/legal guardian is responsible for material checked out on card.

Fines and Fees

Up to 25 items may be checked out.  This includes 10 books on CD and 4 DVDs.  CDs and DVDs may be renewed once.  Books may be renewed twice. Overdue books and CDs are 10 cents per day per item. 

Up to four DVDs may be checked out for a period of 7 days and may be renewed once. Overdue DVDs are $1 per day per item.
