Booking up our Kids

Childhood’s greatest joy is also its greatest benefit, for the rest of your child’s life. Reading aloud 20 minutes, every night, starting young from good quality children ‘s literature sets every child in America on a level playing field in Kindergarten with the most privileged children in private schools.

It also is a great moment of privacy, quiet and love.

Parents, teachers and other caregivers are invited to Wells' presentation, "Booking Up Our Kids" while children attend a reading of her new book in the childrens' story room.

Wells has given TGC Library her original artwork from Felix Eats Up for the Childrens Story room in Stephens and is on display.

Description:

Join Open Arms for a free showing of “Be the One in the Fight Against Human Trafficking” presented by the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.

Human trafficking is a media buzz word that often conjures images of brothels in Thailand or confusion with the ongoing immigration debate. This innovative digital training tool cuts through the confusion, arms the viewer with an understanding of what human trafficking is and is not, and helps them recognize that this is a Texas problem with Texas buyers, sellers, and victims. It challenges Texans to change the culture in which we live from one that identifies with and honors perpetrators to one that provides safety, security, and genuine reintegration for the survivors of trafficking.

We invite you to donate new journals to be given to sexual assault and/or human trafficking survivors that receive services from Open Arms to aid in their healing process.   Monetary donations will also be accepted and appreciated.
